Seit Dezember 2022 informiert Microsoft an verschiedenen Stellen über das Ende des Azure Information Protection (AIP) Add-ins für Microsoft 365 Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel und PowerPoint). Es sind die Windows Apps betroffen. Im April 2023 wurde das Ende in einem Jahr angekündigt.
Das AIP Add-in zeigt in Outlook, Word, Excel und PowerPoint Möglichkeiten zum Klassifizieren von Dokumenten.
In den Einstellungen der Apps wird das Add-in gelistet.
Abhängig zum Release Channel der M365 Apps hat Microsoft ab März 2023 begonnen das alte AIP Add-in zu deaktivieren. Nach der Deaktivierung nutzen Outlook, Word, Excel und PowerPoint die neuen Built-in Möglichkeiten für Sensitivity Labels. Administratoren mussten das alte AIP Add-in über eine Policy wieder manuell aktivieren.

Microsoft erinnert an das definitive Ende des AIP Add-ins ab Donnerstag, 11. April und verweist auf die Migrationshilfe und Dokumentation.
Für den lokal noch notwendigen Information Protection Scanner, Viewer und File Labeler gibt es ab April eine neue Version.
Deaktivierung des AIP Add-ins in Microsoft 365 Apps

Release of Microsoft Purview Information Protection client version 3.0 with the AIP Add-in for Office removed. To continue using the Information Protection Scanner, Viewer and File Labeler, your organization must upgrade and deploy the new package.- April 11th, 2024
AIP Unified Labeling add-in is retired and no longer in support. Extensions to continue using the AIP add-in will be granted on a case-to-case basis; please reach out to Microsoft Support or your account team.- May 1st, 2024
AIP Unified Labeling add-in permanently disabled in Office. AIP Unified Labeling add-in for Office clients will be blocked from using the add-in with version 2.16 or higher. Download of label policy will fail for all clients without extensions to continue using the AIP add-in.
