Microsoft has disconnected Intelligent Recap from Copilot, so users can choose whether Intelligent Recap turns on when Copilot turns on. This update is part of an enhancement that lets Copilot Premium users generate recaps without saving a transcript.
Users now find the new setting “Start Intelligent Recap when Copilot is turned on” in the meeting options. The setting is on by default and applies only to users with a Copilot license.

Copilot Premium users can also find the Intelligent Recap toggle in Meeting AI, as introduced in October.

The configuration in meeting options mainly controls this Meeting AI toggle.
- If Copilot is turned on, Intelligent Recap starts together with Copilot by default.
- If an organizer turns off this meeting option, recap no longer starts with Copilot, but Copilot Premium users can still start it manually.
- If recap is turned on, Copilot is turned on too.
What does it mean in general?
The Intelligent Recap toggle decides the result at the end of the meeting. If the toggle is turned on, an intelligent recap is generated. If it is turned off, no recap is generated.
Teams Premium users:
Teams Premium users also have access to Intelligent Recap, but this meeting option doesn't affect them.
Here is a comparison with a Teams Premium user. For them, all Meeting AI settings are disabled, including Intelligent Recap.
