Manage Copilot Skills in the new SharePoint Site Skills experience

Copilot Premium users can create reusable site skills with Copilot in SharePoint if Copilot is enabled on the site. These skills are stored in an Agent Assets library.

Now, users who work with skills on SharePoint sites have a more complete set of tools to manage them. With the current update, users can edit a skill directly in a new site skills experience, so improvements and corrections can be made right where the skill lives.

Just click the Settings icon (the gear icon) and select the new option for “Site skills,” or open <SiteUrl>/_layouts/15/Skills.aspx to directly open the new Skills experience.

Users have several new capabilities:

  • Add the Skills experience to the navigation bar for quick access.
  • Quick actions like opening, editing, improving, disabling, or deleting the skill on the SharePoint site.

  • Each skill change is now tracked as a version (up to 500 versions in the default configuration), so users can see how a skill has developed over time. When an edit is ready, it can be published so that others on the site see the latest approved version. If a change turns out to be a mistake, users can restore an earlier version and carry on without having to rebuild anything from scratch.

  • Users can also duplicate a skill from one SharePoint site to another. This should make it simple to reuse a skill that already works well, rather than recreating it for every team. The result is more consistent skills across sites, less duplicated effort, and a clearer picture of which version of a skill is the current one.

Important:
Duplication only works if the other site already includes the Agent Assets library; otherwise, the site is not listed in the selection.

You have four options to prepare such a library:

  1. Create at least one skill on the other site (this will precreate the library).
  2. Upload a skill to the other site (this will also precreate the library).
  3. Manually create the library (it’s not a special library). Use the predefined library name: AgentAssets.

  1. Precreate the library with PnP PowerShell.

Everyone with Edit permissions can update a site skill, even users without a Copilot license. Users require a Copilot license to use the skills with Copilot in SharePoint.
