Share SharePoint News posts in Viva Engage

SharePoint News posts can now be shared directly to a Viva Engage community or storyline.
They appear in full, rich formatting wherever people read Engage. News posts look the same in Engage feeds and digests, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and the Engage desktop, web, and mobile apps. The main benefit is that authors no longer need to recreate or manually copy their content to reach people where they already spend their day.

On a SharePoint News post, select Promote and enable the Engage distribution.

Next, choose the sender and the recipient (your personal storyline or an Engage community), mention people if you like, and decide whether to post the distribution as an announcement.

The distribution takes a few seconds and is part of Viva Amplify. Users don’t need an Amplify license add-on to distribute the SharePoint news to Engage.

The news is then published in Viva Engage.

The update also brings all discussion about a post into one place. When a news post is shared to Engage, the comments section on the SharePoint page is replaced by the Engage conversation experience. Comments, replies, and reactions added in SharePoint or in any Engage app stay in sync, so users see one shared conversation no matter where they join it.

This can help anyone who writes stories, announcements, or news for their organization.
SharePoint is where these posts are created, and Viva Engage is where colleagues connect and talk about them every day. Bringing the two together helps news reach a wider audience and makes it easier for users to react, ask questions, and keep the discussion going without switching between separate threads.

The feature is available to users with Microsoft 365 suites that include SharePoint Online and Viva Engage. The rollout should be complete by late October 2026.
